In July 2008, Newell Instruments installed a two-axis tracking photo voltaic array rated at 3.2kW. Assisting in the installation of the system was Habi-Tek.

The solar array consists of 16, Sanyo HIT 200 panels each with a power output of 200 Watts. Since its installation in mid-2008, the NI Lab solar PV system has produced over 13,000 kWh of energy, enough to keep a super-efficient house comfortable for two years or to drive an electric vehicle more than 50,000 miles!

Newell Instruments 2-axis solar PV tracking system was switched on July 17, 2008. Since that time, the system has produced over 13,500kWh of energy, enough to drive over 50,000 miles in an electric car!
