Nov 11, 2009: Rainwater Tank and Solar Panels
Beautiful day today! A lot of activity and many things accomplished!
The tank for the rainwater collection system was installed today. First, the tank connections were made by drilling holes and installing bulkhead pvc fittings. Two of the large holes are for supply from the gutters, the other large hole is the supply to the house, and the small one is for a tank water level measurement device.
The rainwater collection tank sitting in the hole with about 500 gallons of water from a nearby pond. This will keep the tank from floating to the surface after we bury it. The connections from the tank to the house are just about complete and then the hole can be backfilled.
Solar time!!! The concrete for the posts has cured and we have aligned the channels and frame. Now it’s time to install the panels.
As the sun sets on the array we are 25% done. Tomorrow the rest of the panels will be installed and Friday the wiring should start. SIPs are arriving tomorrow, so the house structure will begin going up most likely next week. Hopefully this mild and dry weather will continue.
