Training and Educational Services:

One of the most important ways we will be able to move toward a sustainable future is by educating builders, architects, engineers, homeowners, students and many others about ultra-efficient residences. Newell Instruments can develop short courses, workshops and presentations for your interests and audience.

Perhaps you are an educator who would like to develop curricular materials for sustainable residential design, or your firm would like to offer a short course covering a targeted area of interest? Potential course topics might include: indoor air quality and ventilation system design; solar PV sizing, installation and system cost; appliance impact of ultra efficient home energy requirements; three dimensional, transient foundation heat and mass transfer processes; rain water harvesting modeling, design and cost; window, wall, and building shell design and performance fundamentals; etc.

Ty Newell, Vice President of Newell Instruments, is an Emeritus Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois with over three decades of teaching experience. He has received several awards for his innovations in education: See his UofI bio page here

Whether you are in Asia, the Middle East, South America, or anywhere else in the world, we can increase your cognitive, meta-cognitive and epistemological cognitive skills in sustainable residential design and construction. Our approach is one of cooperative, active teaching that can be directed toward audiences ranging from non-technical to highly technical backgrounds. Contact us to let us know your interests and intended audience.
